Try this fun craft time idea for toddlers and encourage their creativity by making a beautiful new ornament for the holidays!

After you have children, it’s not just your life that goes through a transformation, your home get a complete makeover as well and not for the better. Kids don’t know how to play neatly. What would be the fun in that? For our daughter it’s the messier the better. I think this is why she loves arts & crafts time with mommy so much. This is a great opportunity to get her hands dirty and everything else.

She loves pulling out everything in our craft bins. She loves playing with the craft pom poms and the glitter. We have beads and gems rolling around all over the house. I try to come up with different projects for us to do, but one of our favorites involves all of these things.

What you will needIMG_6160

  • Wax paper
  • White school glue
  • Glitter
  • Gems or beads
  • Pieces of yarn
  • Craft pom pomsIMG_6163

  • Squeeze out a liberal amount of glue in your desired shape onto a piece of wax paper.  For our project we chose to make a heart. We outlined the shape of the heart with the glue and then filled in the heart by squeezing the glue and spreading it around.  Have your child add the different crafting materials to the glue shape.
  • After they are done adding all of their embellishments, have them fill in the uncovered glue with glitter.
  • IMG_6194Help them by trimming any excess yarn that is sticking out.
  • Set the project aside and let the glue dry. It might need to dry overnight depending on the amount of glue used. After the glue dries, peel your shape off of the wax paper.
  • Attach a piece of string or yarn to the back to make an ornament.
